Sber's GigaChat AI assistant added support for the Yakut (Sakha) language on May 13, 2026, making it available on Android via RuStore and AppGallery. Training data was collected by the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of Yakutia in partnership with the North-Eastern Federal University, the National Library, Sakhapress, Sakhamedia, and a regional lyceum.

Yakut is one of the largest indigenous languages of Russia with roughly 450,000 speakers; its inclusion in a major production LLM is a meaningful step for language preservation and digital access for non-Russian-dominant users.
