Claude computes a nine-loop amplitude in N=4 super Yang-Mills
Anthropic
A guest post by physicist Matt von Hippel describes Claude, via Anthropic's Science platform, computing the nine-loop six-particle amplitude in planar N=4 super Yang-Mills — an open frontier problem he posed — for roughly $1-2K of compute, via two independent methods. SLAC's Lance Dixon independently validated the result, and Song He's group in Beijing reached much the same answer concurrently.
Why it matters
The hardest-yet theoretical physics result credited to a frontier model, expert-validated on a shoestring budget.
