Canva releases Craft, its first in-house image generation model

Canva launched Craft on October 22, 2026, a two-stage model that plans composition before rendering, outputting up to 2K across 30+ aspect ratios with legible text in 55 languages. It is trained on Canva templates rather than photographs, converts output into editable layered designs, ranks fourth on DesignArena behind three OpenAI models, and is live for all users via Dream Lab and a public API.
